Les connecteurs Micro USB 2.0 étanches IP68 TE Connectivity assurent une meilleure protection aux appareils mobiles d'aujourd'hui, plus petits et plus fins, contre les dommages causés par immersion sous l'eau et par les contaminants solides, tels que la poussière. Les connecteurs micro USB étanches de TE utilisent un boîtier MIM (moulé à injection de métal) pour correspondre à la norme IP68. Le boîtier injecté d'acier inoxydable remplace le boîtier classique, formé par estampage, pour fournir la meilleure résistance possible face à l'arrachement et aux mauvaises insertions. Il réduit aussi la hauteur de 0,3 mm.
