Melexis DVK90642 People Detection Development Kit

Melexis DVK90642 People Detection Development Kit is a ready-to-use solution designed to demonstrate privacy-friendly people detection using thermal infrared technology. At the kit's core is the MLX90642, a 32×24 pixel thermal sensor, which enables the accurate detection, counting, and localization of individuals in indoor environments without relying on visual imagery, ensuring complete anonymity. This Melexis kit includes a precompiled, machine-learning-based algorithm that works out of the box, requiring no additional training or calibration.

Optimized for embedded platforms, the kit delivers low resource consumption while providing real-time occupancy data, including the number of people and their positions. With its ability to operate in full darkness and detect stationary individuals, the DVK90642 is ideal for applications such as smart building management, energy efficiency, and access control. The kit comes with a demonstration board powered by an STM32 microcontroller, a wide field-of-view thermal sensor, USB connectivity, and a user-friendly GUI for visualization, making it a fast and practical way to integrate thermal-based people detection into modern systems.
