MaxLinear USB UARTs provide a USB 2.0 data bus interface and are intended for peripheral or inter-system communication. The USB UARTs offer up to four UART ports in an ultra-compact package. The USB UARTs are designed for reliability in consumer and industrial environments.

MaxLinear UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) Solutions is a broad portfolio that includes 8-Bit/VLIO, I²C/SPI, PCI, USB, LPC, and combo UARTs.

XR21x14x Universal Async Receiver Transmitters

MaxLinear XR21x14x Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitters with USB 2.0 compliant bus interface are part of a fast UART series. The USB interface on the MaxLinear XR21x14x supports a 12Mbps USB data transfer rate, USB suspend, resume, and remote wakeup operations. These MaxLinear UARTs operate from an internal 48MHz clock, require no external crystal/oscillator, and can accurately generate any baud rate using the internal clock. The UART series includes an automatic transceiver direction control feature that simplifies the hardware for RS-485 applications. The XR21x14x UART is ideal for portable appliances, external converters (dongles), and battery-operated devices.

XR21B1411 Enhanced Full-Speed UART

MaxLinear XR21B1411 is an enhanced Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter (UART) with a USB interface. The USB interface is fully compliant to Full Speed USB 2.0 specification that supports 12Mbps USB data transfer rate. The USB interface also supports USB suspend, resume and remote wake-up operations. The XR21B1411 operates from an internal clock that is programmable to 6, 12, 24 or 48MHz. Therefore, no external crystal/oscillator is required as in previous generation UARTs. With the fractional baud rate generator, any baud rate up to 12Mbps can be accurately generated using the internal clock.
